“I’ve heard the first step to changing the world is to fall in love with it as it already is. I try to fall in love with life every day- each imperfect moment becomes a lesson, each obstacle an opportunity, each moment spent meditating in the grass beneath the sun, a beautiful blessing.” -Chloe Scarborough

Three amazing young adults who are graduating from the Youth of Unity have been selected to travel to South Africa with LoveLight as our first International Youth Ambassadors (IYA) from the US. We are thrilled to announce the IYA winners: Chloe Scarborough, Unity Church of the Hills, Austin, Tex.; Justin Norman, Columbine Unity, Colo.; and Macy Stevens, Unity of Springfield, Mo.

Last summer, Eric Matoni traveled from the small town of Riviersonderend with his mentor John Jacobs to be part of the International Youth of Unity event at Unity Village. It was a magical experience for everyone in attendance, and the YOU participants all wanted a chance to go to South Africa in return. LoveLight put out the call for scholarship applicants to travel over there right after Christmas this year. The response was impressive and it was a challenging task to select the two candidates and one alternate. The selection team was not able to choose among the top three, and presented the option of all three helping to raise the funds so that they could all go. The result was that the universe has stepped in with an angel donor to make it possible for all three to attend. The youth will each raise their airfare for the long trip.

When the power of the younger generations is unleashed, it sets off a vitality that ignites us all. Old and young alike are working side by side to imagine a new world into creation. There can be no greater antidote for the fears or despair that can plague people in the world today than the fresh leadership of awe-inspiring youth.

This team of IYAs, along with Eric Matoni, will lead the Camp Ubuntu in early January 2014 in South Africa. Together we form a mighty partnership that can do more together than we can alone. In the process, every one of us is transformed and the power of that ripples out into the world. Together we are creating the world we want to see. Who knows what can happen when the emerging leaders step out into the world to embody Unity principles? This power is the transformative force that gives us hope and sets the world on fire.
