Before finding Unity, I was one of the many “spiritual but not religious” types convinced that I would never find my community. It was not until some unexpected twists and turns that I heard of Unity and my curiosity grew. After attending an event hosted by a local Unity ministry, my curiosity was piqued. My partner and I wanted to join a community, so we began researching some local Unity ministries. From that curiosity (and plenty of research), I came across a job opening at Unity Worldwide Ministries and found my community of like-minded individuals.
When I began telling people about my new job, I was shocked by how many people had never heard of Unity. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Unity, but so many have never heard of Unity or its teachings. We often joke that Unity is the “best-kept secret,” but what can we do to change that?
Many remember how popular and effective the Ice Bucket Challenge was to promote awareness of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). People dumped ice water over their heads, and challenged others to do the same, in order to bring awareness to ALS. What if a similar social media challenge existed to help bring awareness to Unity and our teachings, while, at the same time, growing the good in the world?
There is no better way for others to hear about Unity than through learning one of its teachings. We in Unity know that what you focus on will grow. The social media Unity Gratitude Challenge is designed to get people to focus on the good in their lives, so that good will grow and expand, while also bringing an awareness of Unity so that its teachings can help others. How exciting to think that the Unity Gratitude Challenge might be the tipping point that brings Unity teachings into every household!
What Is the Unity Gratitude Challenge?
The Unity Gratitude Challenge is a way of spreading love and gratitude across the world. Instead of saying what you are grateful for, we are challenging you to say who you are grateful for and why. Think of the challenge as the ultimate social media shout-out to that special person who has made your life a little better.
How Can I Get Involved?
Simply make a video stating who you are grateful for and why. Set your post settings to public, post your video on your Facebook page and use the hashtag #UnityGratitudeChallenge. Tag a few of your friends and “challenge” them to make their own Unity Gratitude Challenge video. Then enjoy watching your friends’ and family’s gratitude spread! Promote the Unity Gratitude Challenge to your community and consider tagging a mixture of Unity friends and friends outside of Unity. Contact local news media and invite them to participate.
